Tony Awards 2011
Friday, June 10th, 2011
The countdown is on for this years Tony Awards – the ceremony date is set for June the 12th.
The Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Theatre recognizes – as the name clearly states – achievement in live Broadway Theatre. It has a long history as it was founded in 1947. This year the ceremnoy will be held at the Beacon Theatre and not as usual at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The first time Broadway, film and TV star Neil Patrick Harris hosted the American Theatre Wing’s Tony Awards ceremony, he earned an Emmy Award for his efforts.
Nominated this year for best play: Good People, Jerusalem, The Motherf**ker with the Hat and War Horse. Up for best musical are: The Book of Mormon, Catch Me If You Can, The Scottsboro Boys& Sister Act.
You can check all nominees right here, and – of course – follow the action on Television or via STREAMIUM. The Tonys will air on CBS on June 12, live from the Beacon Theatre in NYC at 8 p.m./7 central GMT.
