This Years Cannes Film Festival

The Cannes Film Festival is one of the world’s most prestigious film festival. Established in 1946, it takes place each May at Cannes, a town along the French Riviera and finished on May 22nd.
This week we’d like to present the highlights of this years festival to you:
The members of the Cannes jury awarded this year’s Palme d’Or to Terrence Malick’s long-awaited film The Tree of Life, starring Sean Penn and Brad Pitt. Set in the 1950s, the drama tells the story of a family in the American south.
Brad Pitt, who produced the film, plays a father of three boys who is intent on drilling discipline and toughness into his kids and even continues to do so as his faith in the material world erodes and he loses his factory job.
The Grand Prize was shared between two films: The Kid with the Bike by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne from Belgium. The film tells the story of a young boy abandoned by his father, who is left in the hands of an unqualified childcare provider.
Once Upon a Time in Anatolia by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, a renowned Turkish director, tells the story of police officers looking for a dead man in the hills of Anatolia. When the body is at last unearthed, themes of guilt and adultery come to the surface.
