The CMTs in Nashville were hosted by Kid Rock for the second time. This time he slow-danced with Sheryl Crow!

Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert were the big winners of the night, with Swift winning the night’s biggest award, video of the year, for her song “Mine”. Unfortunately she could not perform live that night as she was on tour, but joined the show via video uplink.

Other performances included Keith Urban and Sugarland, who won duo video of the year, as well as Justin Bieber and Ludacris.

Also last Sunday the Tony Awards went down as we reported about a few weeks ago. The big scorer of the Awards was The Book of Mormon with nine awards followed by War Horse with five awards and The Normal Heart and Anything Goes with three awards.

Highlights of the fulminant night were Actor Hugh Jackman singing a duet with Presenter Neil Patrick Harris as well as attendances by the likes as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Whoopi Goldberg, Alec Baldwin, Robin Williams, Brooke Shields and Patrick Wilson.

The Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Theatre recognizes – as the name clearly states – achievement in live Broadway Theatre. It has a long history as it was founded in 1947. This year the ceremnoy will be held at the Beacon Theatre and not as usual at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The first time Broadway, film and TV star Neil Patrick Harris hosted the American Theatre Wing’s Tony Awards ceremony, he earned an Emmy Award for his efforts.

Nominated this year for best play: Good People, Jerusalem, The Motherf**ker with the Hat and War Horse. Up for best musical are: The Book of Mormon, Catch Me If You Can, The Scottsboro Boys& Sister Act.

Barcelonas Sonár Festival is one of the biggest festivals in Electronic Music. Starting on the 16^th, it will make the masses dance for three full days. The finest of Djs and Bands will be playing day and night, including legendary Annie Mac of BBC Radio One, Dizzee Rascal, Atmosphere and Steve Aoki. Its gonna be splendid! Arctic Monkeys have just put out their record named ‘Suck it and See.’ Critics have already formed opinions, saying the Monkeys have matured. Heavy riffs and more obscure lyrics replaced the sharp power pop and well-observed storytelling of the band’s earlier output … might this be considered one of the albums of the year 2011?!?

Jason Beck aka Chilly Gonzales invented himself anew with ‘The Unspeakable: Chilly Gonzales’, it is out as of the 10^th of June! This guy loves to surprise us and for this one, he has returned to rap or – as his fans call it – art rap!

Also Rock band The Melvins are back with some new shenanigans in the shape of a live album. Swing on down to your local record shop to pick up a few for you and your friends to support some ageing rock stars!

Death Cab for Cutie’s new album is also out: Codes and Keys is the first album in three years by Washington’s favourite Indie Band. Its their 10^th studio album so these guys know what they are doing!

For new releases, you should check out German Radio Station Byte.Fm – they have a show on Friday afternoon called „Neuland“ where they introduce all new records – this Friday it’s songs by Chilly Gonzales from 1 pm. Tune in!
