GENERAL NEWS: METRO GOLDWYN MAYER studios on verge of bankruptcy
Friday, April 30th, 2010
The future of one of the world’s most famous film studios is up in the air this weekend, as creditors of MGM debate whether to force the company into bankruptcy. Having produced legendary films like Ben-Hur, Doctor Zhivago and Absolute Beginners, it is even sadder that for the past 40 years, its output, aside from the James Bond films, has been unremarkable… this led to MGM bein on the verge of bankruptcy as it was announced this month. What now? MGM will probably be sold, though recent suitors, including Time Warner and Lionsgate have been understandably wary about an asking price thought to be around $2 illion… We hope for the best for legendary MGM.
