Plenty of stuff going on next week for all fashion lovers!

First goodie for you is Hong Kong Fashion Week. This event takes over the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre and showcases the season’s collections from Asia’s freshest young designers. The biannual tradeshow draws 15,000 visitors and buyers. You can have your pop from the 17th until the 20th.

Fashionistas from all over the world head to Bread and Butter at Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport for their biannual fill of the forthcoming season’s staple trends. Hundreds of designers, from well-known labels to emerging talent, showcase their creations. It’s on from the 19th until the 21st. Another reason to travel to Berlin: Berlin Fashion Week is on from the 18th – 23rd of January.

If you wanna get in the mood for Fashion Week, we have a few amazing and very lovingly written Fashion blogs for you. Betty from France hosts the beautiful ‘Blog de Betty‘ with great styling tips and amazing pictures from her extensive travels.

Another gem in the blogosphere: What Is Reality Anyway? This blog by Krystal Simpson from New York is a must-read diversion for several hundred thousand visitors every month, and helped Krystal open doors to design collaborations with Coach and Quiksilver. WOW!

Event Round-up: Summadayze & Big Day Out

You’ve had enough of snow? Then simply take a trip to the other half of the earth!

The festival season is in full bloom over in Australia and we have a few recommendations for you.

Perth’s edition of the travelling Summadayze festival was held on the 8^th of January. The cream of Australia’s dance music scene joined the world’s finest DJ talent to ensure ten hours of non-stop entertainment.

Visitors were able to enjoy ice cream, fresh fruit, food and festival stalls, as well as plenty of shaded areas and more than 70 free water drinking points to keep party-goers refreshed. The line-up included David Guetta, Boys Noize, Erol Alkan, Chromeo, Miami Horror, PVT and The Stafford Brothers.

Australia’s huge touring music festival, Big Day Out, includes New Zealand and starts its annual tour in Auckland, on the 21^st of January. The festival then moves through Australia over the following three weekends.

For 2011, the line-up includes Tool, Rammstein, Iggy and the Stooges, M.I.A., Grinderman, John Butler Trio and Wolfmother.

Established in 1992, the Big Day Out festival has grown each year to reach its present status as Australia’s biggest festival, attracting top bands from around the world, as well as the latest Antipodean talents. Tickets will sell out in an instant, so get shopping now!

Pump.FM from Karratha, Australia, is a fine station for digital dance music. All dance music fans will be able to pump up the jam via the STREAMIUM search function.

Happy New Year from your STREAMIUM Team!

It has been a fantastic year with you guys! We’re all a little sentimental that its all over now, but there are great things to come next year!

It has been a pleasure looking for the coolest stations all over the world, the best albums that came out, checking out festivals, tours and events for you! We really hope you enjoyed the coverage of things we gave you.

We’d really like to thank all our readers & followers and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do an ‘Streamium around the world’ post.

Let’s start with Australasia, we’d like to introduce Matariki FM, located on Cook Islands. Although Matariki FM is predominantly and parochially native, its magazine style format is bilingual; that is the Rarotonga Cook Islands Maori language and English.

From Asia with love: Hamara-Sangeet Radio from India is, as they say, the best online station for Indian songs. Here you will find soothing music which will touch your heart.

Moving over to Africa: Contact FM from Kigali, Rwanda plays mainly world music, but also discusses political issues.

Now we’re poppin over to Europe. Stockholm, Sweden to be exact. Hit FM offers you a pleasant, danceable & energetic mix of the best dance, euro, disco, techno, club and house tunes with a smile and a few cool jams thrown in. They’ve been doing their job since 1988, so they know what their doing!

911 Groovy Radio from San José, Costa Rica, is probably Central Americas hippest station. These guys will deliver Hip Hop and Indie-Electro like they mean it. For all native Spanish speakers amongst you -  check out their website too! It does have a great design but unfortunately, we are not able to read Spanish

South America is bringing Radio Panamericana to you, broadcast from La Paz, Bolivia. They do a very wild mix of Latin, Pop and other genres. Worth checking out!

For stations from North America, we’d like to concentrate on the Caribbean. 88Rockkorsou from Willemstad is a very young format that offers a full spectrum far bigger than only rock music: RnB, Hip-Hop, Rap, Soul, Pop – you name it!

A crew of young DJ’s guarantee the consistent dynamic approach, of course, guided by the experience of the older part of the family, who really know what radio is all about…

So we hope we gave you a nice overview of what is possible and where you can go via STREAMIUM. All there’s left to say is have a great start into 2011, Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas from the Streamium team!

The year is slowly coming to an end, and its not long now till we’ll all be sitting underneath the tree, unwrapping wanted and unwanted gifts. If you’re wondering how to spice up the days, we have a few good events in store.

First, a good cup of mullet wine is a great way to start the festivities. Most of the markets keep running their stalls until the 23^rd, whether its the Prague Christmas Market, the one in Manchester or Zurich, which is actually open until the 24^th.

If you happen to be around Vancouver, pop down to see the Carol Ships Parade of Lights. This is a tradition that began over 50 years ago with just one decorated boat docking at Coal Harbour. Today, watch over 80 of them don thousands of sparkling lights while gliding through the creek. This spectacle is on every evening up until the 23^rd.

For all our readers from London, it is an absolute must to visit Father Christmas’ most luxurious grotto in the plush department store of Harrods. Children can sit on Santa’s knee and receive a book, badge and photo from the kindly Mrs Christmas as a remembrance of their visit.

We hope we gave you a few good tips for getting into X-Mas mode and we sincerely wish you the most relaxed and happy couple of days. If worse comes to worse, just lounge and put on a good station via your STREAMIUM.

1st of Advent on Sunday, the 5th of December

So how do you get prepared for Christmas? Do you totally merge in the preparations or would you rather skip the solemnities?

We’d like you to dive into the madness gently, so we have a couple of events for you.

First of all, the candles of the Advent wreath are getting lit for the first time on Sunday. It is all about appreciating the situation you are in and spending time with the family. For this event, we’d like to suggest Forever Christmas Radio. As they claim on their website, from classic crooners to holiday pop, Forever Christmas will be your favorite station to help get you into the holiday spirit.

If you happen to be in Prague, make sure you go and see Santa. On St Nicholas’ Eve (5^th of December), Santa Claus himself wanders the streets of Prague. Accompanied by an angel and a devil, he dispenses material justice to the city’s children under their Christmas trees.

Also, most cities are lighting their public Christmas trees and decorations this weekend to mark the beginning of the city’s holiday season, so why not pop out for a nice, hot punch and watch the spectacle?

A Streamium Thanksgiving!

With Thanksgiving coming up, you need to stock up on a few essential basics. A good wine, a bottle of supreme olive oil.

To get an overview of great wines, we recommend you visit the Bangkok International Wine Fair. Spicy, fruity, tangy wine flavours from around the world dance on your tongue at this great event. Small and boutique wine producers connect with distributors in Thailand and South East Asia – this is the perfect opportunity to choose a great wine for all upcoming festivities.

For a great tasting olive oil, check out the Olive and Olive Oil Festival (19^th – 21^st)  in Baena, Spain. Located in Andalusia, Baena is famous for its wonderful olives and olive oil based products. It is called the capital of olives and if you happen to be down there, you will be able to participate in tastings, watch how olive oil is extracted, and find out what can be prepared from olives. Delicious!

EVENT: Barcelona International Festival of Contemporary Art (4th – 17th)

Time to see a good art show again! If you happen to be in Barcelona, make sure you check out the International Festival of Contemporary Art, or BAC!. This exhibition incorporates various media, from photography to paintings to installations, contributed by galleries all over the world.

The works are spread across several city venues but are united by the exhibits yearly changing theme. The theme for 2010 is „Time“, or, if you wanna practice your Spanish “El Tiempo.”

For art fans it is a great way to discover a fresh point of view on contemporary art as well as a gorgeous city. Make sure you also visit La Sagrada Família whilst down there as well as the gorgeous Gaudí park named Parc Güell.

Perfect station to explore Barca with is definately Flaix FM – they will serve you hot Electro-Dance 24/7 and deliver the best Barcelona-Soundtrack out there!

EVENT OF THE WEEK: Film Festivals Everywhere!

For all you B-Movie, Shortfilm and Cinema-loving folks out there: This week is jam packed with great Film Festivals and hopefully there’s one in your region too!

First we have the AFI Los Angeles International Film Festival – held at the ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood and other venues around Hollywood Boulevard. This is Los Angeles’ largest and most prominent film festival and it is on from November 4^th til 11^th.

From November 7^th to 13^th, the International Film and Video Festival of Beijing Film Academy is also opening their gates to the public. Visit the campus to enjoy numerous international documentaries, animated cartoons and short films, produced by students from all over the world. The aim of the festival is to encourage and support the next generation of Film and Television professionals.

Also the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival ends this Thursday (11^th). Fort Lauderdale is increasingly gaining recognition as one of the most important regional film festivals in the US. Now in its 25th year, The FLIFF will reel out over 200 films from around the globe.

To get you in the mood for cinematic highlights, check out the trailer for ‘Black Swan’ which will screen at the AFI this year. It is the latest film by Darren Aronofsky, who was also responsible for ‘Requiem for a dream’ and ‘The Wrestler’, and one of the most highly anticipated films of 2011. The thriller zeros in on the relationship between a veteran ballet dancer (Natalie Portman) and a rival (Mila Kunis). The Worlds Biggest Nirvana Exhibit in Seattle

Which bands from the 90’s left a lasting impression on you?

The 90’s were a great decade in music – even if this period brought out some very trashy Euro Dance stuff, there were still many many bands that changed music forever. One of them was definitely NIRVANA!

Next April, the Experience Music Project in Seattle will launch the most extensive exhibit on Nirvana, the Northwest punk/grunge band that exploded out of Seattle in the early ’90s.

“Nirvana: Taking Punk to the Masses,” is scheduled to run April 16-22, 2011. The exhibit will feature rare and previously unseen items from the band and their crews and families.

The exhibit tells the public and personal story of Nirvana within the context of the independent music scene that evolved in the United States throughout the 1980s.

It all culminated with the 1991 release of Nirvana’s ten-times platinum album ‘Nevermind’.

Get on down there if you’d like to see rare and previously unseen items from the band, their crews and families and before hand, tune into KISW Rock straight outta the depths of Seattle. They play Rock, Grunge and Alternative so this will set the right mood for the Nirvana Exhibit.
