Sad news first: The White Stripes have split! After 13 years of Jack and Meg White aka The White Stripes, they announced on February 2nd that they are officially disbanding – but putting an emphasis on the fact that ‘it is seen as a positive move done out of respect for the art and music that the band has created’. Nothing is lost! Check out their official statement via their website.
For last weeks SuperBowl, the NFL has returned to edgy pop music again with this year’s halftime act the Black Eyed Peas. They delivered an eye-popping spectacle worthy of the Bowl’s status as most watched Television Event of the Year. Did you happen to watch it?
Oh and have you heard? It seems Britney Spears has decided to retake the title of Pop Queen this year – and we now have the demo of her first single for 2011, Hold It Against Me. You can check it out here.
It’s got a bit more dubstep in than we’re used to with Britney – and the beat really gets heavy in the end. Still – we like the new direction she’s going in.
We’re pretty sure 2011 will hold many surprises when it comes to new music, we’re already off to a great start!
