NEW RELEASES: Best Albums in September

Following a turbulent few months for the New York post-punkers, Interpol have announced that their self-titled fourth album will be released on September 14^th. They also have a european tour ahead, playing a few dates in France, Spain and the UK this autumn so keep checking in.

Also 80’s icon Liza Minelli is about to bring out a new album. Entitled “Confessions,” the CD is due Sept. 21 which is bang on in the middle of Liza’s tourdates in the US.

Another huge record for September is ‘Going back’, a cover album filled with Motown songs by Phil Collins. It is a tribute to the musical legends of his youth and there also is an exclusive limited edition available. Release date is the 10^th of September.

Kid Cudi too is ready to unveil his next musical offering. The rapper-singer-actor will release his sophomore album ‘Man on the Moon: The Legend of Mr. Rager’ this September. Guests this time around include Kanye West and Ratatat, as well as Band of Horses. The musical autumn is going to have something in store for everyone of you!

One more artist to watch is chart-conquering Brit Mark Ronson. In between DJ gigs and dressing snazzy, Ronson has been experimenting with stepping in front of the microphone for his third album ‘Record Collection’ due Sept. 28. He bagged a number of hip musicians for this album so expect great from this!

Mark Ronson just did a live session as a DJ last friday for East Village Radio which will be repeated during the week so check in with this station to catch Mark’s session of Hip hop, Remixes and a bit of Soul from last Friday. The show is going ot be repeated next Friday 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm ET.

FESTIVAL OF THE WEEK: Sziget Festival 2010 in Hungary

Hurry to grab some tickets for the Sziget Festival on Óbudai Island near Budapest. This happening draws hundreds of thousands of revellers for a week of great music, camping and partying, from 11 to 16 of August.

Dance and rock acts dominate the main stages but jazz and world music also fill the festival programme. This year Iron Maiden, Muse, Faithless, Madness, Kasabian,The Hives and Papa Roach will perform on the main stage.

Usually the party-goers stay on the island for a whole week, but don’t worry, it won’t get boring: with theatre, outdoor movie screenings, fitness classes, volleyball, football matches and children’s entertainment happening away from the stage, visitors are spoilt for things to do.

TOUR OF THE WEEK: U2 & Kings of Leon

Two great rock bands continue their world tour this summer. The postponed 2010 North American dates for the U2 Tour had to be rescheduled for 2011 because of Bono’s back surgery.

He is now back to health and U2 are set to reopen their 360° Tour in Turin on August 6^thwith supporting act Kasabian.

Next stops after that will be Germany, Denmark and Finland as well as Spain, Greece, France and Turkey. Some of the dates will be supported by Snow Patrol, Razorlight or Interpol. There are still tickets available to most of the European shows and surely the most famous band from Dublin, Ireland won’t disappoint.

Also Kings of Leon are set to continue their extensive US Tour as of next week which will go on until mid September with one single show in Canada. They will be joined by the Black Keys as supporting band for a couple of dates. After a short break Kings of Leon will head over to Brazil for another few gigs in October.

Chicago’s Rock Station ‘the Loop‘ are huge U2 Fans and will certainly play a couple of hits for you if you keep tuning in with them via STREAMIUM. Just search for ‘Loop’.
